Tablet War

Happy Friday everyone!

Man what a week! Been manic at work learning stuff like Microsoft CRM & Business Objects – all fun and games but really glad it’s the weekend.

I’m in a dilemma (again!) because I’m in the market for getting an up to date tablet and I’ve been leaning towards this….

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity

The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity is an impressive bit of kit. It’s specs include:
– An nVida 1.6GhZ quad-core Tegra 3
– Gorilla Glass
– 14 Hours Battery Life
– Attachable Keyboard
– USB Input
– 1080p Full HD Screen
– 8MP Camera

The first time I saw this I was thiiiis close to giving Misco my money until three things happened – the first, my girlfriend said No; the second, my Mum said No (I don’t mind the girlfriend but you gotta listen to your Mum!) and this….

Amazon Kindle Fire HD

Amazon Kindle Fire HD

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD is one device I’ve been looking forward to for about a year and I finally got a chance to play with one on my break today. It’s a lovely bit of kit for £200 and includes:

– An impressive 1280×800 HD display which is aided by a PowerVR 3D graphics card
– Excellent Dolby speakers
– 1.2 Dual Core Processor
– 11 hour battery life

I’m going to be honest, I really liked the Kindle and after playing with both the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD (The Kindle Fire is slightly smaller than the HD), I’m really torn to what to buy.

Cost
The Amazon Kindle Fire HD costs: £199
The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity costs: £400-500 (you can understand why my mum said No)

In all honesty you’re getting what you paid for and the one thing which is leaning me towards the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity is the fact I can attach a keyboard and use it as a laptop; but thinking about it, what can you do with a keyboard on an Android keyboard?

I’m not pushing the Amazon Kindle Fire HD to the side, in fact it’s putting up a good fight with it’s impressive spec’ and price tag; but I feel the screen could be bigger as there is no functionality around it. It’s a small criticism but with the quality of colours the screen can produce, it’s kinda wasted on such a small scale. Other than that I can’t really fault the device.

I need your guys & girls feedback because I’m getting paid next week and I want to treat myself to an early Christmas present!

Have a great weekend and I’m gonna get back to playing Doom and contemplating my decision…

Take Care
