UK Slowest Broadband Towns

Good (early) Morning everyone,

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not posting anything up lately. I’ve been working on another project of mine which should be ready in time for the start of December; I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Yesterday I was browsing the ‘net and I came across the article ‘UK’s Slowest Broadband’s Towns and Villages‘. Now with me living in the middle of nowhere (and I mean that literally), I decided to have a look; and to my surprise my location was not listed! The title went to the Kent town of Farningham which had a Average Download Speed of 1.3Mbps….which is about 650+kbps faster than mine!

After reading this I took a broadband speed test just to make sure and you can see the result below (Source: Broadband Speed Checker.co.uk).

Researchers say that one album in Farningham takes 45 minutes to download while a 12 hours to download a movie. At my place, an album takes a few hours depending on time and whether or not my sister and dad are using the connection. And as for Youtube, there’s no point thinking about it!

I thought I’d share that with you before I go to bed and dream of living in a place with fibre optic broadband (before you say anything just remember…I’M A GEEK!).

Wishing you the sweetest dreams,
